CITY OF MONROE MONROE, WASHINGTON PUBLIC NOTICE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENT APPLICATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED The City of Monroe is now accepting Public-Initiated requests to amend the City of Monroe 2044 Comprehensive Plan. The amendments will be considered as part of the City’s 2026-2027 Plan amendment cycle. The deadline for submitting Comprehensive Plan amendment requests for this amendment cycle is 5:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026. The Public-Initiated Comprehensive Plan Amendment Application and Checklist form and submission instructions are available at: https://www.monroewa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/18079/Complete-Citizen-Initiated-Comp-Plan?bidId= The comprehensive plan evaluates growth and land use changes for the city on a 20-year planning horizon. It serves as the primary framework for policy formulation and decision making. The plan illustrates how Monroe is evolving from a small rural town into a city of regional significance. Its goals, policies, and actions provide direction for current and future decisions. The plan includes the following elements: -Introduction -Vision – Land Use -Transportation -Economic Development -Housing -Parks, Recreation and Open Space -Capital Facilities -Utilities -Shorelines and Natural Environment -Implementation . This will be the only opportunity for plan amendment requests to be considered during the 2026-2027 Comprehensive Plan amendment cycle. The 2026-2027 plan amendment cycle is anticipated to conclude with final City Council action before or during July 2027.
